General Info
Overview
Winnipeg Autocross and the Winnipeg Sports Car Club are proud to present the third annual Ladies First Autocross School—a grassroots motorsports event created to empower women to explore their interest in automotive racing.
This school offers a welcoming space for women to build skills and gain confidence behind the wheel and at the track. By creating an inclusive environment, we aim to break down barriers and encourage more women to experience the thrill of motorsport.
Participants of all skill levels are welcome, from first-timers and beginners looking to learn the basics of performance driving to experienced racers seeking to refine their techniques and skill sets. Whether you race a daily driver or a dedicated race car, all you need is a valid driver’s license and a safe-running car to join the action. The school will feature top-notch local instructors, led by our two local female SCCA Solo National Champions, Emily Janzen and Briget Sawatsky. Drivers will receive comprehensive training on various aspects of racing, including car control, race line optimization, and advanced driving techniques in your own car. Through hands-on practice, participants will develop the skills necessary to navigate challenging courses (and the streets) with precision and finesse.
FAQ
What if I don’t have a helmet?
No helmet, no problem! We have plenty of helmets available for you to use. Just bring $5 to purchase a balaclava on site to wear underneath.
What if I don’t currently have a car?
Thanks to McPhillips Toyota and Level Up Auto, we will have THREE automatic loaner cars to use for the school! Space is limited and available at a first come basis, so let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to use one of these seats so we can plan accordingly.
How many people will be there?
This event is currently capped at 25 students.
Are spectators and cheerleaders welcome?
Yes, absolutely. We pride ourselves on having a welcoming community, and we understand if you prefer to have a support buddy. Spectators must show confirmation of their completed SpeedWaiver, or provide physical copy of signed Waiver during check-in at the trailer.
