Overview
In an effort to break down barriers and promote inclusivity within the motorsport community, Winnipeg Autocross and the Winnipeg Sports Car Club are proud to present the Hers & Hirs Autocross School – a grassroots motorsport event created to empower women and other underrepresented people to explore their passion for auto racing in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The Hers & Hirs Autocross School provides a unique opportunity for people to feel at home while they enhance their skills and gain confidence behind the wheel at the track. We recognize that many individuals may have felt uncomfortable or unwelcome in traditional racing environments, which is why we have created this event to address these concerns head-on! By offering a safe and inclusive space, we hope to encourage more individuals to pursue their dreams or curiosities, and embrace the exhilaration of auto racing.
Participants of all skill levels are welcome, from first-timers & beginners looking to learn the basics of performance driving to experienced racers seeking to refine their techniques and skill sets. The school will feature top-notch instructors, led by our two local female SCCA Solo National Champions, Emily Janzen and Briget Sawatsky. They will provide comprehensive training on various aspects of racing, including car control, race line optimization, and advanced driving techniques in your own car. Through hands-on practice, participants will develop the skills necessary to navigate challenging courses with precision and finesse.
Registration Capacities & Loaner Toyotas
Our events are currently capped at 20 total attendees. What if you don’t currently have a car?! McPhillips Toyota will have TWO automatic loaner cars from their dealership to use for the school! Let us know if you’d like to use one of these seats so we can plan accordingly.
Participants and Spectators must show confirmation of their completed SpeedWaiver, or provide physical copy of signed Waiver during check-in at the trailer.
